Chief Equipment Custodian

The County of Augusta has an opening for a Chief Equipment Custodian in the Registrar Office. This position will ensure that County voting equipment and electronic poll books are tested, programmed, distributed and returned from Chief Officer of Election for each election in accordance with the requirements established by the Director of Elections, the Augusta County Electoral Board & the Virginia Department of Elections.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Downloading of election files to voting equipment/updating voter records to electronic poll books.
Set up for and assist with testing of voting equipment in accordance with strict requirements and procedures for each election.
Troubleshoot voting equipment/poll books on Election Day.
Test electronic poll books in accordance with strict requirements and procedures for each election.
Adhere to strict standards of security.
Set up and prepare for equipment distribution.
Assist with the returning of equipment on election night.
Import Voter Credit.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicant must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, members of the Electoral Board, Officers of Election, Equipment Vendors and the public. Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing; ability to follow directions effectively, orally, and in writing; familiarity with Apple products; be able to operate standard hand tools and ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds. The position must take an oath.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; qualified to be a registered voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Wage/Salary:
This position is a part-time seasonal position with no County benefits. Starting wage is $15.00/hour. The applicant must be able to work day, evening, weekend hours and be on-call as needed. This position will work every Election/Primary Day (which is approximately an 18-19 hour day) and the possibility of several days after the election. Candidate will be required to submit to a criminal background check.
