Columbus / Yorktown Victory Day Observance

The offices at the Government Center will be closed on Monday, October 14.

  • Introduction: The Government Center, Shenandoah Valley Social Services, and the Augusta County Libraries will be closed on October 14 in observance of the Columbus & Victory at Yorktown holidays.

The Government Center, Shenandoah Valley Social Services, and the Augusta County Libraries will observe Columbus Day and Yorktown Victory Day on Monday, October 14, 2024. 

The landfill and convenience sites will be open for this holiday. 

This holiday, typically observed annually on the second Monday in October, recognizes Christopher Columbus (1451-1506), a discoverer of the Americas, and the final victory at Yorktown on October 19, 1781, when Gen. George Washington defeated England's General Cornwallis in a decisive battle of the Revolutionary War.
