The primary purpose of the SRO program is to initiate more positive contact between police and youth. Positive contact creates a higher level of trust and helps insure more effective channels of communication

An additional purpose of the program is to allow school staff and students to take advantage of the wide range of experience and education that many law enforcement officers possess. Many citizens, and particularly youth, do not understand existing community needs. This often leads to strained relations between the police and the community that they serve. We believe that this lack of communication between the police and the youth of our community can be greatly alleviated through the effective utilization of the School Resource Officer Program.

The SRO Program is commanded by Sergeant Chris Pultz and he supervises four SRO’s and these officers serve all of the County’s High Schools, Middle Schools and Elementary Schools.
