The Board of Supervisors approved several updates to the Utilities chapter of the 2015 Augusta County Comprehensive Plan Update on July 28, 2021. These updates are intended to provide additional clarifying guidance on the siting and design of solar energy facilities in Augusta County. The twelve policies addressing solar energy facilities serve as a guide for citizens interested in learning more about the balance of existing land uses with renewable energy throughout the County, renewable energy developers who seek to propose solar energy projects in the County, and the Planning Commission during their substantial accord determination hearings for solar energy projects, as mandated by Virginia State Code section 15.2-2232.
