BZA Overview

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) consists of five members who are appointed by the Circuit Court Judge. The BZA hears and makes decisions regarding applications for special use permits, variances, and appeals. An appeal to the BZA may be taken by any person aggrieved or by any officer, department, board, or bureau of the County affected by any decision of the Zoning Administrator or from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by any other administrative officer in the administration of the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 25).

The Board of Zoning Appeals invites the public to attend their regular meetings. If you would like to comment on an agenda item or in matters by the public but are unable to do so in person, please call (540) 245-5700 or email comdev@co.augusta.va.us with your comment or question. Your input will be added to the meeting record or arrangements will be made to allow you to speak remotely. If you need accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please call us at (540) 245-5700.
