About the Board

The Electoral Board consists of three members. A majority of the circuit court judges of the judicial circuit for Augusta County appoints or reappoints one member each year for a term of three years. Two members represent the political party of the Governor in office, the other member represents the other major party.

This Board appoints the general registrar and the officers of election (poll workers); submits a budget each year to the Board of Supervisors; assists the Board of Supervisors in securing polling places; oversees the election process for primary, town, general and special elections; orders supplies and has ballots printed; and ascertains the results of each election immediately following each in order to certify the results to the State Board of Elections. 

Meetings are mandatory the first week of February. Most other meeting times are at the Board's discretion upon the call of its members.
